Should I Turn My Water off When I'm Gone.

It's the summer and kids are out of school, we know what that means. SUMMER VACATION! Are you planning a summer vacation soon? If so, here are some tips on how to preserve your home by a few simple steps of just turning off your water.

How to Shut Off Your Water Valve

Most homes have a main shut off valve inside. The valve is always located near the water meter and it looks like a large round flat knob or long handle. It my be painted a different color like red to grab your attention. Make sure to grab handle and turn clockwise until it can't turn no more.

You may also want to shut off the individual water supplies to your appliances, sinks and toilets.

If you own a Condo you may be required by your bylaws or HOA agreements to shut off valves in your unit while gone for a certain amount of time.

Turning off your water supplies is a vital part of preventative maintenance for your home. Unfortunately accidents still happen and if you suffer a water loss you can always reach out to your local and trusted SERVPRO of New Smyrna Beach/Titusville.
